We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including legal, tax, accounting, contractual, editorial, and dispute-resolution purposes.

- Payment, invoice, and accounting records: generally for six years or for any longer period required by law.
- Newsletter information: until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or we determine that the information is no longer needed.
- Marketing suppression records: for as long as reasonably necessary to respect your request not to be contacted.
- General inquiries: normally for up to two years after the last meaningful communication, unless a longer period is justified.
- Prospective expert and outreach information: normally for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless the relationship remains active or a longer period is reasonably necessary.
- Public expert profiles and editorial content: for as long as the content remains editorially relevant, forms part of the SOS archive or is retained under the applicable membership or contributor agreement.
- Podcast and media files: for as long as needed to produce, distribute, archive, and protect the relevant content.
- Complaints and privacy requests: for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate that the matter was handled appropriately.
- Website analytics: according to the retention settings applied within the relevant analytics service.
We may delete or anonymize information earlier where it is no longer needed.
