Challenges
It’s definitely not been one straight happy path, no journey is. The single most difficult thing I think is being able to make a decision of whether you want to go down the safe path like getting a job or to continue putting yourself in a position where you never know what’s actually coming along.
I got to a point that I was so busy with work that I wasn’t paying too much attention to trying to get new work. I got to a point that I had finished everything and there was nothing new coming up-I was like, what happened!
When you look at your schedule and its empty you think have I done something wrong and am I ever gonna get more work again!
Getting time to do what actually matters the most
Words of Wisdom
On self-doubt …
People always think they’re not good enough. The whole idea of being good enough is so subjective. You have to put yourself out there and just get feedback that’s the only way to know if you’re going to get commissioned or get orders from your work.
On taking action …
When it comes to not having enough time, if you have a full-time job and you only want to do your art from 6 pm till 8 pm you’ll get enough done throughout the week and throughout the month and throughout the years. We all have a lot of things going on and a lot of people don’t have the opportunity to do art full time … so just try as much as possible to get a little bit done when you can.
There is no satisfaction from not doing anything that you really want to do so at least try to get a little bit done.
That little bit more that you put in, is what’s going to make you stand out.
On morning routines …
I’m very into routines and into scheduling, I think that’s what keeps me going and keeps me creative.
