Behind the Work
The ideas, experiences, and lessons that shape the people behind the work.
In conversation with Moira Hutchison, Intuitive Coach, Mentor, and Meditation Teacher
A conversation on intuition, self-responsibility, personal sovereignty, and learning to trust the guidance that already exists within you.
The greatest turning points often don’t arrive as opportunities. They arrive as interruptions.
After 15 years in the corporate world, burnout and illness forced Moira Hutchison to pause and ask whether the life she was living was genuinely aligned with who she was.
That interruption became the beginning of a different path. Today, her work brings together mindfulness, meditation, intuitive guidance, coaching, hypnotherapy, and energy work, while remaining centered on one important principle: guidance should help people trust themselves, not become dependent on someone else’s answers.
In this edition of Behind the Work, Moira reflects on burnout, intuition, self-responsibility, and why meaningful change begins when we reconnect with the wisdom we’ve carried within us all along.
What originally brought you to the work you do today, and why does it continue to matter to you?
My journey to this work began after 15 years in the corporate world, where I worked as a financial supervisor and office manager across various industries.
In 2000, I experienced burnout and illness that forced me to reevaluate my path. That life-changing moment inspired me to pursue holistic well-being and intuitive guidance, setting me on a journey to create a life and career aligned with my soul’s purpose.
What belief, philosophy, or truth sits at the heart of the work you do?
My work isn’t just about providing intuitive guidance. It’s about empowering my clients and students to trust themselves and recognize their own innate wisdom.
Rather than simply providing answers, I empower and inspire clients to ask aligned and authentic questions and to understand their role as co-creators of their reality.
I also bring together a deep understanding of mindset, emotional intelligence, and self-responsibility, ensuring that my clients and students move beyond passive guidance and into active transformation.
My life experiences, including being in and subsequently escaping a cult, embodying the sacred gift of grief, and releasing people-pleasing tendencies, have given me a grounded, compassionate, and down-to-earth approach.
That approach resonates with those seeking genuine, lasting change rather than surface-level insights.
Rather than simply providing answers, I empower clients to ask aligned and authentic questions and understand their role as co-creators of their reality.

What does living in alignment mean to you personally?
To me, living in alignment means that I only teach what I’ve personally embodied and integrated.
My work isn’t about vague inspiration. It’s about holding space and being a catalyst for practical transformation.
I maintain integrity by consistently doing my own work, walking my talk, staying grounded in my own practice, and ensuring that my guidance is aligned with self-responsibility, empowerment, and sovereignty rather than dependency.
I only teach what I’ve personally embodied and integrated.

What do you think people often misunderstand about confidence, leadership, or personal power?
I think a common misunderstanding is that confidence requires having all the answers.
Truthfully, personal power comes from embracing vulnerability, while effective leadership is rooted in empowering others rather than exerting dominance.
Confidence isn’t an innate, fixed trait. It’s a dynamic skill built through self-awareness, self-acceptance, action, and resilience.
What changes when people begin trusting themselves more deeply?
For so many years, we’ve been taught to look outside ourselves for answers.
We seek validation from others. We search for approval. We follow expectations, obligations, and prescribed paths, often believing that fulfillment exists somewhere beyond our current circumstances.
However, the greatest transformation doesn’t begin outside of us. It begins within.
It begins the moment we become willing to listen to the quiet whispers of our own heart and deeply trust the guidance it provides.

How can people begin cultivating greater self-awareness, intuition, and trust in their own inner guidance?
I believe we’re in a period of collective awakening, where old paradigms of fear, control, and disempowerment are being dismantled.
More and more people are being called and inspired to cultivate greater levels of self-awareness, step into their own flavor of sovereignty, and trust their intuition rather than relying on external authority figures.
I also believe one of the biggest shifts happening currently is toward self-responsibility and conscious co-creation.
People are being guided and inspired to stop blaming circumstances and start recognizing their innate power to choose and create their reality. People are being guided to stop blaming circumstances and start recognizing their innate power to choose and create their reality.

What do you understand now that you wish more people understood earlier?
I understand now how essential it is to fully love, nurture, respect, and accept all aspects of who we are.
We’re each uniquely talented and wired in a way that gives us something to offer the world around us. I wish more people understood these ideas earlier.
It deeply saddens me to hear people speak about themselves in derogatory and judgmental ways, giving greater importance to the inner critic.
Where is the loving care and nurturing that we all deserve and need?
It also deeply saddens me when people say they’ll never succeed, achieve their dreams, or even allow themselves to have one, or when they say they hate the way they look.
For me, it’s about helping people strengthen their inner connection. I want them to see that there’s a divine plan for them and that they can choose what they create and how they show up in their lives.
My purpose and intention are to guide and support people in taking full responsibility for the lives they’ve created and, ultimately, in creating what makes them happy.
What do you hope people feel, remember, or take away after experiencing your work?
At the heart of my work is a simple yet powerful belief: each of us carries an innate well of wisdom within.
Our intuition isn’t something reserved for the gifted or mystical. It’s a natural guidance system that lives within every human being.
Yet in a world that often teaches us to look outward for answers, many people lose touch with that inner knowing.
My role is to help people remember.
Through a blend of intuitive guidance, reflective tools such as Tarot, and evidence-informed practices drawn from coaching, meditation, hypnotherapy, and energy work, I create spaces where individuals can reconnect with their own inner compass.
Rather than positioning myself as the source of answers, I see myself as a guide who helps illuminate the wisdom that already exists within the person I’m working with.
I believe meaningful transformation occurs when insight is paired with compassion, self-awareness, and practical tools for integration.
When people learn to trust their intuition, release outdated patterns, and listen deeply to their own inner voice, they begin to move through life with greater clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
Ultimately, my work is about empowering people to recognize that the guidance they seek has always been within them and to live in alignment with that truth.
The guidance they seek has always been within them.
